Which Deposit requests expire
Not all of them. It depends on how you asked for the Deposit.
Deposit requests on a Booking Request. These expire. You pick the window when you send the request: 1 day, 2 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, or 30 days. The default is 2 weeks.
Custom Deposit Links. These expire too, on the same schedule you choose when you create the link.
Your Standard Deposit Link. This one never expires. It turns off when your Books are Closed and turns back on when you open them, so there's nothing to renew.
The rest of this article is about Deposit requests on a Booking Request, which are the ones you can renew.
What happens when one expires
The Client can no longer pay that request until you renew it. Nothing else is lost. The Booking Request stays Open, your chat stays where it is, and the project details are all still there. You just need to renew the request.
You'll get a notification the moment it expires, by push, email, and text, and it shows up in your notifications in the app. That notification comes at expiration, not before it, so if you're waiting on a Client it's worth checking in with them before the deadline.
How to renew an expired Deposit
There's no automatic extension, and the Client can't restart it on their end. Renewing is a two tap job for you.
Three ways to get there:
From the notification. Tap it and you land on the Booking Request.
From the Next Step banner. Open the Booking Request. The banner at the top reads Renew Deposit. Tap it.
From the Actions menu. Open the Booking Request, tap the menu in the top right, then tap Renew deposit.
All three open the Edit Deposit sheet, already filled in with the amount and expiration from the original request.
From there you can:
Keep the amount or change it
Keep the same expiration window or pick a different one
Update the Estimate
Tap Send request when it looks right, and you'll see a confirmation that the Deposit request was sent.
What the Client sees
The Client gets notified that their Deposit request was updated, and a new request lands in your chat with them. The clock starts over from the moment you send it, so a 1 week window means one week from now, not from the original request.
Does renewing cost anything?
No. Renewing is free, and it doesn't change what the Client pays. The $10 Booking Fee is still charged once, on the first payment of the Booking.
Can I renew more than once?
Yes. If a renewed request expires too, you can renew it again the same way. The one thing you can't renew is a Deposit that's already been paid.
Expired Custom Deposit Links work differently
A Custom Deposit Link can't be renewed once you've sent it. If yours expires before the Client pays, create a new Custom Deposit Link and send that instead.
Ready to move on instead?
If the Client has gone quiet and you'd rather close it out, you can decline the Booking Request from the Actions menu.
