What to Know About Your 1099-K
During tax season we want to make sure you have everything you need. Here are answers to some common questions about your Stripe payouts and 1099-K tax forms.
If you receive a 1099-K, it means your payouts through CO:CREATE (via Stripe) met the IRS reporting threshold for the previous calendar year.
What is a Form 1099-K?
Form 1099-K is an official IRS document used to report payments you received from credit/debit cards, payment apps (like PayPal or Venmo), or online marketplaces (like CO:CREATE) for goods and services.
Will I receive a 1099-K this year?
If you earned both $20,000+ in gross volume with 200+ transactions through CO:CREATE this year (2025), Stripe will file a 1099-K with the IRS on your behalf. These thresholds can change year-to-year and state-by-state, so even if you received a 1099-K last year, you may not get one this year (and vice versa).
If you don’t meet the federal IRS filing threshold, some states have different reporting requirements. Be sure to review your state’s tax rules, as additional action may be required depending on where you’re located.
What will I receive from Stripe?
Stripe will send you an email regardless of whether you meet the threshold for a 1099-K or not, letting you know that Stripe is handling tax filing and what, if any, steps you need to take.
How can I download my 1099-K tax form?
CO:CREATE does not send 1099-K forms—Stripe does.
If you create a Stripe Express account and agree to paperless delivery, Stripe will email you to let you know when your 1099-K tax form is available for download through Stripe Express. If you don't agree to paperless delivery, Stripe will mail you a paper copy of your 1099 tax form instead.
What do you need from me?
As long you’ve made sure your tax information is up to date, then we don’t need additional information from you. You can ensure your info is up to date by clicking the link in the email from Stripe, or by logging into your Stripe account. If we need any additional information, we’ll reach out to you directly.
